Ink is transferred from the film to the master sheet through a heat process using a Reprofax unit. After choosing a design the pattern will be placed in the Reprofax unit between the film sheet and yellow backer sheet. The unit is then sent through a thermal processing, or "thermofax," machine. A plastic belt carries the unit through the machine. Inside the machine is an infrared light. When the lines on the "original" encounter the infrared light, the lines immediately absorb energy and become hot that the ink melts. As the unit passes between two rollers, the melted ink releases from the film and adheres to the master sheet. The whole process takes only two or three seconds. These Spirit Masters are also used in Tattoo Shops. 8 1/2" x 11". 100/box. Sold by the box. $34.69/box. (Minimum order - 10 boxes)

The main difference between Reprofax units and P205 spirit master units consists in how they are imaged, that is, in how the ink is transferred from the ink-coated paper or film to the white master sheet. As noted above, the ink is transferred by pressure when using the P205 units. When using Reprofax units, the ink is transferred from the film to the master sheet through a heat process.
