Plastic (19 - 24 Ring)
Plastic (19 - 24 Ring)

Looking for a way to create professional presentations with the ability to update them as needed? Plastic Comb Binding is your choice! Documents open easily and lie flat -- perfect for reference materials and training manuals. When you need to make changes, just add, remove or rearrange pages in seconds. Simply rebind the document and you're done! We have plastic 19-24 ring binding machines from manufacturers such as GBC, Ibico, OffiBind and more. Binding machine models in electric and manual punch available.

Description of Plastic Comb binding is:
Plastic Comb binding has been one of the most popular types of bindings for many years, and for good reason. It is very versatile and allows you to bind any book from 3/16" up to 2" wide. If you have a comb punch now, you can also bind with 19-loop wire by purchasing one of our wire closers. Plastic combs are available in wide variety of lengths and colors. Automated Book Binding can imprint your company name, logo, or both on your plastic combs. We can also screen them to match any color!

How to Bind:
#1: Punch your paper. Remember to only punch as many sheets as your machine is rated to handle.

#2: Place your comb on the comb spreader. If your machine has a comb spreader adjusting knob, adjust to the diameter of the comb being used. Push or pull your spreader handle to open the comb.

#3: Lay your pages on the comb so that the rings feed into the punched holes.

#4: Pull or push your spreader handle so that comb closes.

Coil (Spiral)
Coil (Spiral)

Spiral coil binding machines create professional presentations and booklets. Documents open easily and lie flat -- perfect for reference materials and training manuals.

For reports, proposals and presentations, use these unique and new coil binding systems. Documents will have a sleek, professional look and will be securely bound yet easily revised.

Description of Plastic Coil (Spiral) binding is:
Plastic coil binding is quickly becoming the most popular type of short-run book binding method. Many companies are upgrading their plastic comb binding to plastic coil. The reason? Coil is more functional, secure, and looks better. Coil is available in a wide range of colors, and coil-bound book pages may be rotated 360 degrees, and will lay flat. Coil is great for bound media that is mailed because of its resiliency. If the binding is bent in shipping, it will bounce back to its original shape.

There are three primary types of coil: 4:1, 5:1, and, 6mm. 4:1 means there are 4 holes punched in every inch of your binding edge, 5:1 means there are 5 holes in every inch punched and 6mm is somewhere between the two.

4:1 coil the most popular type of coil bind. Its also very versatile. A 4:1 coil bind will allow you to bind books as small as 10 pages, and as large as 1-1/2" thick.

6mm coil is one of the newer coil types. It will bind the same-sized documents as the 4:1, but has a slightly tighter hole pattern.

5:1 coil has been referred to as the nicest looking coil because of its tight hole pattern. 5:1 coil can bind a book as small as 10 pages and as large as 7/8".

How to Bind:
#1: Punch the sheets for your books. Make sure your pages are all the way against the back wall and completely flush against the side guide. Don't try to punch more pages than recommended for your machine.

#2: If you do not have an electric inserter, then manually twist or roll your coil into the book. If you have an electric inserter, manually insert the coil into the first few holes, then use the feed wheel or roller to insert the coil.

#3: Make sure the red dot on your pliers is facing up. While keeping the pliers flat and horizontal to your work table, squeeze the pliers tight and without releasing, twist them clockwise to crimp. Hint: The deeper you can get the coil into the pliers the nicer the crimp will be.

Wire
Wire

Looking for a way to create professional presentations with the ability to update them as needed? Wire Binding is your choice! Documents open easily and lie flat -- perfect for reference materials and training manuals.

For reports, proposals and presentations, documents will have a sleek, professional look and will be securely bound yet easily revised.

There are two main types of wire binding machines available: single loop and double loop binding. Single loop wire binding uses one wire per hole. Also called coil binding, single loop spiral binding resembles a spring once it is closed.

Double loop wire binding uses two wires per hole. This provides a stronger alternative to the single wire spiral binding. Double loop wire binding allows the document to lay flat and the pages to wrap all the way around. Double loop wire binding is commonly used for items such as hanging calendars.

Features to look for when choosing a wire binding machine:

  • Punch capacity - how many sheets it can punch at one time
  • Bind capacity - how many sheets it can bind at one time
  • Paper sizes accepted
  • Manual or electric
Description of Wire binding is:
There are three types of wire binding: 9/16" (19 loop), 2:1 (21 Loop), & 3:1 (32 Loop). 19 loop wire is referred to as 9/16" because there is 9/16" spacing between the punched holes. This is the same punch configuration as plastic comb bind. 2:1 or 3:1 is the ratio of holes per inch. For example, 2:1 has 2 holes punched in every inch on the binding edge.

Advantages
Wire-bound books:
- have pages that can rotate 360 Degrees
- lay flat
- have a professional appearance
- are secure

9/16" (19-loop) wire is an easy way to upgrade from comb binding, because this wire fits the same hole pattern that is punched by a plastic comb punch. If you have a comb binding machine, you may decide to purchase one of our inexpensive wire closers. A standalone loop wire closer is required, as you cannot close wire binding with a plastic comb spreader. 19-loop wire is available in 1/4" to 1" increments.

3:1 (32-loop) wire is the most popular of the three sizes of wire bind. It is available in 3/16" to 9/16" increments, and will not bind books over 9/16" thick.

2:1 (21-loop) wire is a great alternative to 32-loop wire if you are binding books thicker than 9/16". It is available in 1/4" to 1-1/4" increments, and may be special ordered in 1-1/8" and 1-1/4" sizes.

How to Bind:
#1: Punch the sheets to be bound.

#2: Rotate your back page to the front of your document (this will hide where your wire closes for a more professional look), and insert the wire into the punched holes by hand.

#3: Place your book into the wire closer with the open side of the wire touching the back of the closing wall. Pull the handle down with light pressure.

#4: Rotate your back cover to the front, and your book is bound!

Thermal
ThermalTherm-A-Bind is not only the fastest binding system on the market, it's one of the most attractive. It takes just seconds to create bound reports and proposals because there is no punching involved!

Description of Therma-A-Bind binding is:
There are two types of thermal binding: wraparound cover binding and thermal tape binding.

Wraparound cover binding makes binding simple for smaller applications where book thickness does not vary.

For longer runs and larger applications, we recommend thermal tape binding. Unlike perfect binding, finished book trimming is not required. This type of binding is very popular in digital and copier environments, because it consists of a single-step process for any book thickness.

How to Bind:
#1: Drop your pages into your cover, making sure that all the pages are touching the glue strip.

#2: Place your book into the machine & press power. Allow your book to cool before opening.

VeloBind
VeloBindFor reports, proposals and presentations, use the unique and new electric VeloBinder binding machine system. VeloBind documents will have a sleek, professional look and will be securely bound yet easily revised. Binding machine models available from GBC.

Description of VeloBind binding is:
VeloBind is the most secure of the common table-top book binding processes. This type of binding is great for anyone looking for a secure bind, or who is binding thick books. If you are binding legal documents, VeloBind is the right choice, as most legal depositions are required by law to be Velo-bound.

VeloBind is available in three different sizes, using 1 x 11, 2 x 11, and 3 x 11 strips. VeloBind allows you to bind books up to 3" thick. You can also bind books as small at ten pages.

How to Bind:
#1: Punch your pages.

#2: Insert the plastic pronged strip through the holes you have punched.

#3: Insert the plastic hole strip onto the plastic prong strips, closing the book.

#4: Place your book in the binding area of your machine. You will find pins to fit the grooves on the hole-side of the strip. Make sure they snap into place.

#5: The next step fold over the strips to close document.
